As a native Virginian, I grew up in the suburbs of Washington, DC in a once upon a time small town called Vienna. I have since sprawled north westward with the rest of the suburbs to a town called Ashburn.
I've dabbled in the arts off and on for as long as I can remember. As a child in grade school I found myself working on special projects that involved drawing. My parents encouraged my abilities by signing me up for art lessons when I was twelve. I looked forward to those Saturday mornings at Mr. Piper's house in his converted attic studio that smelled of turpentine, oil and acrylic paint.
In college I studied Commercial Art and started my career as a Technical Illustrator. Somehow I got side tracked into the electronics world (it probably had something to do with the pay scale). So, instead of becoming a "starving" artist, I became a printed circuit board designer in the telecommunications industry. To keep my creative side happy, I would occasionally take a painting lesson or enter design contests.
During the past couple of years, I've been concentrating on watercolor media. Recently, I spent some time in southern France painting the beautiful countryside. I've also shown my work at the Herndon Old Town Gallery and in a Vienna Arts Society juried show. Most, if not all, of the paintings seen on this site are watercolors.
Hope you enjoy!
